Trekking Pole Tent

An ultralight one-person tent built for thru-hikers, bikepackers, and fastpackers who count every gram. This single-wall, trekking-pole tent pairs a genuinely low pack weight (about 615 g) with a roomy interior, integrated mesh, and the wind stability you want when an exposed alpine site or a Coast Mountains. A 60 cm vestibule keeps a pack and boots out of the weather, and the single-pole pitch keeps your setup fast and your load light — exactly what you want from an ultralight backpacking tent in the Canadian backcountry.

It pitches off one trekking pole at 130–135 cm and needs just six pegs for a solid minimal pitch. Pegs and pole aren't included, so you can run the gear you already carry.

Seam sealing

Seams ship un-sealed to save weight. The Illusion handles light rain as-is, but for sustained wet-coast rain we recommend sealing them with a silicone-based sealant — Gear Aid Seam Grip +SIL (formerly McNett Silnet) is the go-to and is stocked widely across Canada.

A note on pole tips: always keep the sharp ends of your trekking poles capped, or place a soft cloth between tip and canopy. Never push a bare tip into the apex — it will eventually punch through.

Quick setup

1.Stake out the four corners.

1.Set your trekking pole to 130–135 cm and seat it in the interior apex pocket (top) and the floor tube pocket (bottom). Keep the tip covered.

1.Run the apex guy line through the Lineloc loop and peg it out along the zipper line.

1.Tension the guy lines for wind stability.

For extra interior room, peg out the side loops.
